Hi, I confirm that the image is indeed OK when run out of qemu.
I am using qemu on an amd64 installation and I have tested that the problem appears both using the kqemu module and without it. The qemu version is 0.9.0-2 from debian sid. Does vmware have the same type of problems? I will try to report on the tests.
