Dear Maintainer, lintian fails to unpack the current strip-nondeterminism source package, and thus also fails to properly check the package: $ schroot -- lintian --info --pedantic --display-info strip-nondeterminism_1.12.0-2_source.changes N: E: strip-nondeterminism source: unpack-message-for-orig strip-nondeterminism_1.12.0.orig.tar.bz2 ar failed for strip-nondeterminism-1.12.0/t/failures/ar/857975.a N: N: Unpacking the contents of this source package produced the listed error. N: N: It probably means something is broken or the package was somehow constructed in a strange way. You may wish to report this as a bug to upstream. N: N: Visibility: error N: Show-Always: no N: Check: lintian N: N: I: strip-nondeterminism source: unpack-message-for-source ar failed for t/failures/ar/857975.a N: N: Unpacking the contents of this source package produced the listed error. N: N: It probably means something is broken or the package was somehow constructed in a strange way. N: N: Visibility: info N: Show-Always: no N: Check: lintian N: using these files, which I've just uploaded to unstable, as dpkg and pbuilder nicely cope with the same source package: d451c96fe2094b1c42c52af258f9ac88 strip-nondeterminism_1.12.0-2.debian.tar.xz 5c0c59ab0996881055ca69810c43e702 strip-nondeterminism_1.12.0-2.dsc 736f82cc28615279e6ba01e9ba8d59f7 strip-nondeterminism_1.12.0.orig.tar.bz2 (and this also can be seen with strip-nondeterminism_1.12.0-1.dsc...) I suspect this is because t/failures/ar/857975.a which is part of the package is an ar archive.
