-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello,
New version of Moodle (Moodle 2) contains new file in a source code: TRADEMARK.txt. You can see the whole file in their repository: http://git.moodle.org/gw?p=moodle.git;a=blob;f=TRADEMARK.txt;h=d73a0765b19b37729360780dd2af7f530fc5317c;hb=HEAD The restrictions in that file made me wonder if I have a legal right to package Moodle as "Moodle". I have asked their helpdesk as instructed and I've got "OK" from Moodle Trust - I can use "Moodle" trademarked name. The thing I don't fully understand is: is that enough to put package "moodle" in free? DFSG promises "Free Redistribution" and if somebody uses Debian & moodle package to advertise "Moodle service" surely they will breach the trademark agreement. I've found this sentence in FAQ: "Currently, Debian does not check for trademarks and their misuse." but I'm not sure how does it apply to my case. cheers, Tomek Muras -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJMg7JMAAoJEIfMiettfca2jQ4H/0ldIx6IHNcdYVk1IWCgEly8 Xns8hyJjiCKnV3cluXvcPhRPDzM0m4o0RgbMEaG/jLnlbd7z7yHVG6n9TCPpre3l fIHveWVokoJapVL+8DXw/RK+4L4zyuJKEljhRvUrzE9Io1nU3zz2p0FZ24VO2VmB VZFcfvJIySATePzcGui2F2epXrKfcgKWpODh9b9Bk8PZSP7fcHOBcDZ3z96YDBFH WsHWKoOqeThtG9F3uTxH70BJvtZCnETjTzDIfD94++0tdqVU+xWeCAZj4ThkznHO 5ZXvUcO5qL/EKFymJWHd52/Nk04JXqX/2EZ8aJtZ8r+GhTKNNxGNiNr/JlTrMuA= =XFj0 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-legal-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
