Package: kanjidic Version: 2003.07.21-1 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 2.2.1
Kanjidic's copyright file states (lines 208-212): "The commercial utilization of the frequency numbers is prohibited without written permission from Jack Halpern. Use by individuals and small groups for reference and research purposes is permitted, on condition that acknowledgement of the source and this notice are included." The Debian Policy Manual section 2.2.1 states that packages in the main archive must comply with the Debian Free Software Guidelines. The Debian Free Software Guidlines states, in section 2.1 of the Debian Policy Manual: No Discrimination Against Fields of Endeavor The license must not restrict anyone from making use of the program in a specific field of endeavor. For example, it may not restrict the program from being used in a business, or from being used for genetic research. This appears to me to be a clear violation of policy. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux mabli 2.6.0-c1 #1 Thu Dec 18 18:33:13 GMT 2003 i686 Locale: LANG=cy_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=cy_GB.UTF-8 -- no debconf information
