I think there is evidence now of the fact that this issue is not going to be fixed in a near future, so I agree, the debate is now sterile. Please, note that in the mail you just replied to, it was not said that "that documentation distributed by Debian isn't software" but that "political/philosophical/historical texts" isn't software. I did not picked this phrasing to save time when typing.
