In addition, microSD cards are generally lagging behind miniSD cards both in max available capacities and in speed classes. In other words, while the microSD form factor is definitely more universal, new bigger/faster miniSD cards hit the market much before equivalent microSD cards do. Also, not all card readers will be compatible with these bigger capacities and higher speeds.
