It didn't work for me initially because I didn't have the iproute package installed (which provides the ip command), but once I installed that, I was indeed able to use the ifup script again. This is great; thank you. It does not yet help with the suspend/resume problem, however, and that problem does seem to be specific to the iwl3945 driver, since the wired interface shows no such problem.
