I used to use speedstep-centrino until one ugly day when I saw this message in my syslog: Sep 13 15:07:11 learner kernel: speedstep-centrino with X86_SPEEDSTEP_CENTRINO_ACPI config is deprecated. Sep 13 15:07:11 learner kernel: Use X86_ACPI_CPUFREQ (acpi-cpufreq) instead. Sep 13 15:07:11 learner powersaved: Starting powersaved with ACPI support This is when I moved to acpi-cpufreq. I think that would have been the time when I started seeing such low battery backups. I'm back to speedstep-centrino and see good results. More investigation going on. Thanks again.
