I guess you allready tried appending
amp=power_off
to the kernel options...

What does it do on '# halt' ?

Instead, I can reboot the computer with '# reboot'.
Also, I can turn it off with Mandrake 10.1 with '$ halt'.

Use either "poweroff" instead of halt, or edit the shutdown file under
/etc/defaults and tell it to use "poweroff" when you run "shutdown -h
now".

It's really annoying that Linux' version of shutdown doesn't have a -p
switch.
