Hi everyone, I have a Toshiba M30X-159 with a ATI Radeon 9600 (this is the output from lspci: 0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10]). I would like to use the ATI 3d driver provided by ATI. I followed the procedure at http://xoomer.virgilio.it/flavio.stanchina/debian/fglrx-installer.html patching the driver to work under kernel 2.6.12.3. I was able to compile the kernel module using gcc4 (even if I tried also using gcc3.4) but in all cases I am unable to install the module (modprobe output is:
fglrx: module license 'Proprietary. (C) 2002 - ATI Technologies, Starnberg, GERMANY' taints kernel. [fglrx] Maximum main memory to use for locked dma buffers: 804 MBytes. ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:00.0[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 193 [fglrx:firegl_stub_register] *ERROR* Unable to the open some already present DRM kernel module! I have DRM compiled as a module. Could somebody help me sorting out what I am doing the wrong way?
