I'm having some problems upgrading the 'pcmcia-cs' package. I have the feeling the problem lies in the fact that certain things aren't unmounted; since, I remember getting a warning about the pcmcia modules not unloading on the upgrade.
Any pointers on how I get around this problem? The following suggests it is pretty messy (although I don't know if things have changed since then): http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/1998/04/msg01072.html Is there a dependency I have to sort out by hand? I've tried to reconfigure the pcmcia-cs module (after doing "dpkg --configure -a") ... but it doesn't work. ----- # dpkg-reconfigure pcmcia-cs /usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: pcmcia-cs is broken or not fully installed # ----- The above is strange 'cause I'm using the wireless network to connect to the net... in order to send this. pcmcia-cs doesn't seem to be broken... Anycase, I've (stopped the wireless other occasions and) tried to manually unload the modules I think are associated with pcmcia-cs ... but I can't 'cause it says they are in use. Is there a way to (really) force the unloading of modules? Why the pcmcia is in use is another matter... I don't understand why the wireless card depends on 'pcmcia_core'. The wireless card (module: "orinoco") is built into the motherboard... so I don't understand the dependency----it is as if the pcmcia module is used to interface with the built in network card.
