Hi,
I have just installed debian-testing on a R40 Thinkpad and I am having
some problems configuring the laptop. I am using kernel 2.6.5-1-386. It
is my first debian installation, so please be considered.
First, I had problems with the power management acpi. After several
attempts I decided to turn it off with the option acpi=off in the kernel
boot and try apm. I worked better, although there are still some issues:
suspend works fine when triggered with Fn+F4, but not when triggered by
the system, and after shutdown I have to press the power button to turn
it off.
Second, during the boot the kernel complains when loading the modules
pciehp, shpchp and hw_random. I guess that the first two are related to
the acpi, which I turned off on boot with the option acpi=off, but no
idea about the 3rd.
Third, when I try to switch the display between the LCD and the serial
port the system hangs. It didnt happen in the first stages of the boot,
for instance when configuring the bios or in the grub menu.
I have no idea if these things are related or not. Can someone help me?
Thank you in advance,
Oscar
