pcmcia: no driver in /proc/devices

on my laptop i get the response from cardmgr: no driver in /proc/devices so i unpackaged pcmcia-cs-3.2.7.tar.gz and did make config, make all, make install   but i am lost on what to do next?     regards,   Jaime
