Can anybody recommend the simplest solution (ideally apt-get install "this")
to get the battery monitor icon to show up on my KDE desktop on a stock
woody install? My laptop (a Compaq Presario 2100) does not support APM, but
does support ACPI (which I have compiled into the kernel). I have installed
klaptopdaemon, but it claims that it needs APM to work. Is there an ACPI to
APM "translation layer" I can install to make APM utilities work on an ACPI
machine?

I would be perfectly happy with a solution that said "Go read
http://this/that/something.html";.

Thanks...
