One problem that i've been noticing is that i cannot get emacs to auto backup unless i open the emacs session in sudo mode. If i open a file with emacs then the system warns me that it cannot write the backup file. Now if i open the file running sudo emacs rather than just emacs, then the auto backup runs fine. That seems a little odd to me because me as the user should have those permissions and not have to run sudo. Most other operations run as they should i.e. without requiring me to invoke sudo. I have no clue why this is happening. Any ideas? Thanks, Aswin
