Hi,
I've recently got hold of a(n ancient) sony vaio PCG-F304 and it appears to have the pII SMBALERT# bug - when I attempt to install debian the laptop shuts down immediately after detecting the drives. This is reported to be due to the heat sensor reporting an incorrect value. Has anyone heard of a workaround anywhere? I've scoured google to no avail...there's a workaround for win98 (disabling the power management chip) but I really don't want to waste the laptop on win98! cheers,
