Can't help with the rest, but these buttons work. there is a kernel patch OR a module to be inserted that provides functionality to these buttons. I'm not sure if you need to be running acpi instead of APM though. http://julien.lerouge.free.fr/md9675.html (Yes, the page says L2D, but it works with L3C and others too)
