Just place a script which disables tap-to-click in /etc/apm/resume.d

That's not working for me. I put an executable script there with this
in it:
#!/bin/sh
tpconfig --tapmode=0 > /tmp/tp.out 2>&1
And after a sleep and a wake, here's the contents of /tmp/tp.out:
fatal:
No Synaptics or ALPS touchpad device found
which I know is false, since that's the exact same tpconfig command
used to turn tapmode off at boot time. I'm thinking that the fact I
have X running (KDE 3.1, specifically) is interfering with tpconfig.
If I run 'tpconfig --tapmode=0' at a command-line, it says "Timed out
waiting to read from decide (is pc_keyb.c kernel patch installed?)",
again probably because X Windows already has control of the trackpad.
Is there any way around this?
