-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I tried to install Debian Woody on a Laptop with the following configuration: - - Mobile Athlon XP 2000+ - - ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 64 MB - - Samsung CD-R/W DVD SN-324B - - IEEE 1394 Firewire interface - - Smart Link 56k Modem - - VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter (VT8235 + VT6103) - - O2Micro OZ6912 CardBus Controller - - Realtek AC97 Audio Controller ALC201A, AC97-V2.2-compatible - - VIA USB 2.0/1.1 EHCI/OHCI Host Controller; Chipset: VIA KT133 (VT8235 + VT6307) - - Chipsets: VIA KT133 (NB VT8367 + SB VT8235) - - APM 1.2 and ACPI 2.0 compatible
What amazed me big time was that the kernel from CD booted without problems. I installed the base system. At one point I was aked if I wanted to remove the PCMCIA packages as my system would not have that. I said no. When I rebooted the first time after installation into the packages install phase everything went fine. When I finished package install I could log into the console ok. But when I rebooted I got kernel panic near the end of the boot process. I was able to mount my root filesystem at the rescue system shell. I scanned through <my hdd root file system>var/log/kern.log, message,... There was nothing logged indicating a kernel panic. I did not find a core file anywhere. Are there other places to look for hints? Any solutions/ideas?
