LOL. acpi (the latest debian version I've seen, anyway 0.6) has a copyright date of 2001. Fat chance of anything that old knowing how to find _most_ acpi features. It says exactly the same for my inspiron 2500, but simple reading of /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state shows pretty reliable results. Thermal probably isn't supported, but a useful tool would show fan (also not functional on the low-end inspirons), processor, embedded_controller and button data. derek
