Hi!
I am trying to get a 2.4 kernel running on my compaq presario 900z. So far
the only kernel I got running on this is 2.2 which comes with debian
installer (output from lspci-vv from it is attached).
I tried prebuilt 2.4.19-k7 from unstable and self-built 2.4.19 , 2.4.20-rc2
and currently I am at 2.4.20-rc2-ac1 all with no success. The behaviour I
was getting varied ( for example I had it hang right after it said
"Partition check:" ).
Right now what I have is that after the message "NET4: Unix domain sockets
... " I am getting the following:

(this is repeated several times with fs messages about not being able to
read superblock)
