The Presario 700 series has some problems with ACPI: with my 714EA I get no ACPI events, so the power button and lid closing have no effect (apart from the hard reset triggered by pressing the power button for a long time). There is no suspend (this is a general problem with Linux ACPI), but software suspend may or may not work. Battery and AC outlet status work for me.
