Hi Bill I am also looking to buy a new notebook similar spec to what you are looking for. I don't know anyone who is selling laptops with Debian preinstalled but I have been checking out Fujitsu's new Lifebook P2046/1032/1035 series notebooks.

I don't think anybody has done a write up for installing Debian on these yet so I might do just that. However, battery life is very good. The p1035 has built in 802.11b or the P1032 has 10/100 built in instead. But both are really small. The P2046 is a little larger with built in CD/DVD/CDRW ROM and it has both 802.11b and 10/100. I will probably be getting the P1032, unless anybody on this list can convince me otherwise. It looks like a worthy replacement for my old Toshiba Libretto 70CT. I would be interested to know what you think of these Fujitsu notebooks before I go ahead and order one.
