Admittedly, I haven't played with PC-Card stuff since the 2.3
series. But when I did, switching to the in-kernel driver stuff
meant switching *everything*. Your xircom_cb driver from pcmcia-cs
won't load because it is for something different.
You might try using the kernel tulip driver (built as a module).
This is what I used for the PC Card on my now-deceased Toshiba -- it
handles PC Cards as a special case of hotplug PCI. I think it's the
right one for the network half of you Xircom too.
I think then the scripts in the 'hotplug' package should help in
automating the plugging and un-plugging of the cards, but I never used
it.
