After reading this message, I investigated the lspnp tool a bit, as I had never used it. After several kernel recompiles to get PnP BIOS support (included with the -ac series of kernels), I finally got sound working on my 770E! :) Here's some experience I gained in the process:
For some reason, the sound card was disabled in the PnP BIOS by default. The PnP BIOS support included by compiling a custom pcmcia_cs does not work for some reason. The cs4232 module must be loaded before PCMCIA is started. Laptop speakers leave much to be desired. ;) Sorry I can't add any specific help.
