After reading this message, I investigated the lspnp tool a bit, as I
had never used it.  After several kernel recompiles to get PnP BIOS
support (included with the -ac series of kernels), I finally got sound
working on my 770E! :)  Here's some experience I gained in the process:

    For some reason, the sound card was disabled in the PnP BIOS by
    default.
    
    The PnP BIOS support included by compiling a custom pcmcia_cs does
    not work for some reason.
    
    The cs4232 module must be loaded before PCMCIA is started.
    
    Laptop speakers leave much to be desired. ;)
