i got an hp a wile ago, and it has windows 2k on it. however, i wanted to put linux on it and was wondering about a couple of things.
1. i have read up on the ir technologies and they all seem to work with linux. however, i was wondering whether, when i get in front of a printer with my laptop (when linux is installed on it), whether i would have to have a seperate printcap file depending on the printer i go to or what? 2. i have a usb intella mouse (one of those little m$ lazer optical mice), and i was wondering whether linux would work with it at all, and if so, whether x would either disable the touchpad and give the mouse free reign or whatever? 3. if the modem will work on it? - i couldn't find what the "make" and/or "model" of it is on hp's web site, so i can't look it up on the net. 4. if there are any quarks with this laptop that i need to know about with running linux on it? thanx darkhaven (aka - shawn wilson / kg4gxu)
