Hello, Don't know about the D-Link. However I have tried the IBM etherjet and found similiar problems. I eventually got it to work using a driver downloaded from some far off web site. The best luck I have had is with the Xircom combo ethernet/modem pcmcia card (the CEM56 type). I had some problems with the realport type however.
The dongle is a little fragile, however, you can order a "mini dock" that hooks into the card where the dongle connectors do, and gives a very sturdy little container to plug into. I think the model for the "mini dock" is: "minidock-641". www.microwarehouse.com is a good place to look for pictures of this stuff and to get an idea of prices/selection.
