In fairness, they are not that much different from a desktop, save that
they tend to be impossible to change the hardware on, and seem to prefer
poorly documented proprietary hardware..

Are you familiar with the 'Linux on Laptops' site? It's a good general
reference, rather than a Debian-specific one.

You have the mouse configured as a standard PS/2 mouse, I presume?
That's the single most stable thing on every laptop I have ever used;
they all just worked with the mouse set to the PSAUX device and PS/2
protocol.

I don't have the specific hardware you name, though, so I can't say for
sure what the issue is.
