This is almost correct, i have found that LG will actually offer warranty on the battery for the warranty period of the laptop on select models (prolly best bet is to call teh company to ask which particular ones as most retailers dont really know the varying warranty details from model to model)

Don't blame IBM for that - nobody would guarantee a Lion battery for that long, because you can only expect 2-3 years out of one under the best conditions.
