Ok, I have same laptop with the same pcmcia xircom ethernet card. I am running Debian unstable with a self compiled 2.6.10 kernel from the Debian unstable archive kernel-source-2.6.10_2.6.10-5_all.deb sources. If you want to use my .config file for your system, find it attached. It should work. If you are compiling your own kernels, I don't need to tell you what to do with the file. I do not use an initrd and compile a lot of stuff into the kernel, so you could probably trim it down some. But if you want a kernel that works with a Dell Latitude Cpx with the Xircom ethernet card, then this one does a fine job. You may have post your /etc/network/interfaces file for us to see if it is setup correctly. When I take my laptop out of suspend, from root, I issue the command cardctl insert which turns the card back on, then I issue the command /etc/init.d/networking restart and get an ip address and connect to the local network. I am sure there is an easier way, but this is relatively quick and works every time. I haven't had the desire to research a more automatic way. -- Stewart...
