David; I don't know anything about your machine but that isn't one of the "Thinkpad" IBMs is it?
In absence of specific knowledge I would suggest that you look at the "Tecra" disks. Also I note that there are some note about Thinkpads (some sort of boot command line option required). I don't know if this will help but maybe it will give you a lead as to where to start looking.
