All you really need is the latest SVGA server binary. ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/current/binaries/Linux-ix86-glibc/Servers/XSVGA.tgz Just stick the contents of that into /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_SVGA in place of what's there now. The Debian package system is great, but don't let it ruin your fun.
