Hi there, though I browsed the archives I could not find a solution to my problem. If it has been tackled, any URL is a good URL. ;-)
My problem is this: I'm in kinda situation and bound to use my old laptop, an Compaq Armada 1500c. Unfortunately, the USB port is broken. I bought a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed CardBus Adapter PCMUSB20A and I'm trying to make it work. I'm using hotplug 0.0.200403 cardmgr 3.2.5 Linux 2.6.8-1-686 #1 Thu Oct 7 03:15:25 EDT 2004 i686 GNU/Linux I didn't do anything yet, sorry, couldn't find any doc on how to start installing the CardBus USB adapter. When I insert it into the slot, /var/log/messages displays: Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Linux Kernel Card Services Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: options: [pci] [cardbus] [pm] Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:11.0[A] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta: CardBus bridge found at 0000:00:11.0 [0e11:b121] Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta: Enabling burst memory read transactions Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta: Using CSCINT to route CSC interrupts to PCI Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta: Routing CardBus interrupts to PCI Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta TI: socket 0000:00:11.0, mfunc 0x01001c72, devctl 0x64 Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta: ISA IRQ mask 0x0408, PCI irq 11 Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Socket status: 30000006 Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:11.1[A] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta: CardBus bridge found at 0000:00:11.1 [0e11:b121] Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta: Using CSCINT to route CSC interrupts to PCI Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta: Routing CardBus interrupts to PCI Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta TI: socket 0000:00:11.1, mfunc 0x01001c72, devctl 0x64 Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Yenta: ISA IRQ mask 0x0408, PCI irq 11 Oct 31 21:30:29 kernel: Socket status: 30000020 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [__report_bad_irq+42/144] __report_bad_irq+0x2a/0x90 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [note_interrupt+112/176] note_interrupt+0x70/0xb0 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [do_IRQ+288/304] do_IRQ+0x120/0x130 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [common_interrupt+24/32] common_interrupt+0x18/0x20 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [__do_softirq+46/128] __do_softirq+0x2e/0x80 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [do_softirq+39/48] do_softirq+0x27/0x30 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [do_IRQ+251/304] do_IRQ+0xfb/0x130 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [common_interrupt+24/32] common_interrupt+0x18/0x20 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [schedule+907/1232] schedule+0x38b/0x4d0 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [default_idle+35/64] default_idle+0x23/0x40 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [cpu_idle+52/64] cpu_idle+0x34/0x40 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [start_kernel+424/496] start_kernel+0x1a8/0x1f0 Oct 31 21:30:31 kernel: [unknown_bootoption+0/352] unknown_bootoption+0x0/0x160 Oct 31 21:30:32 kernel: cs: IO port probe 0x0100-0x04ff: excluding 0x250-0x257 0x330-0x337 0x388-0x38f 0x4d0-0x4d7 Oct 31 21:30:32 kernel: cs: IO port probe 0x0800-0x08ff: clean. Different ACPI or APIC settings may help. Then, I attach a USB stick and - it blinks! When the standard USB port still worked, I was able to mount it as /dev/sda1 - now, I can't access it, at least I don't know how. If you're still with me: - How can I test if the adapter works? - It doesn't seem to work, honestly, since I cannot access the USB stick. Where can I find information on how to make it work? Thanks! cu, Tom ___________________________________________________________ALL-NEW Yahoo!
