make-kpkg (apt-get install kernel-package libncurses5-dev) can make this all pretty easy. Working over the configuration to get it "nice" can take a little effort the first couple of times, but once you have a config that works you can keep using it. I'm sure someone on this list can provide a good starting configuration for whatever laptop you are working with. The big advantage of make-kpkg, of course, is that it builds a Debian package, so you can install / uninstall / etc and it handles Grub / Lilo things, etc, etc. Regards, Andrew. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew @ Catalyst .Net .NZ Ltd, PO Box 11-053, Manners St, Wellington WEB: http://catalyst.net.nz/ PHYS: Level 2, 150-154 Willis St DDI: +64(4)916-7201 MOB: +64(21)635-694 OFFICE: +64(4)499-2267 The world isn't worse - the news coverage is better. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
