Switching between the 2.6 and 2.4 kernels is easy. You need to upgrade a few things and most importantly you need to install module-init-tools. If you fail to do this then 2.6 won't work (but 2.4 will still work fine and you can have it setup to dual-boot). Going to 2.6 usually means going to ALSA sound, which means that sound stops working until you can figure out how to get it going again. ALSA drivers are significantly different from OSS drivers, I have a Thinkpad 600E that has no sound because I haven't yet got ALSA to work with it's audio device... As for wireless, my Wireless cardbus card works fine with 2.6. -- http://www.coker.com.au/selinux/ My NSA Security Enhanced Linux packages http://www.coker.com.au/bonnie++/ Bonnie++ hard drive benchmark http://www.coker.com.au/postal/ Postal SMTP/POP benchmark http://www.coker.com.au/~russell/ My home page -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
