In the file /etc/defaults/pcmcia, the line
PCIC=i82365
specifies the PCMCIA driver, and the line
PCMCIA=yes
controls whether the pcmcia package starts up or not at boot time.
These settings are used by the initialization script /etc/init.d/pcmcia.
