Some older laptops (pre-ACPI) support only APM. Some new laptops (post-APM) only support ACPI. In between there have been many laptops which support ACPI to a limited extent, and APM quite well, and probably all of the variations in between. If you buy a new laptop now it is quite likely that you will be forced to use ACPI but my laptop (for example) I choose to use APM because the support is mature (and why would I want to press the power button anyway :-) Cheers, Andrew. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew @ Catalyst .Net.NZ Ltd, PO Box 11-053, Manners St, Wellington WEB: http://catalyst.net.nz/ PHYS: Level 2, 150-154 Willis St DDI: +64(4)916-7201 MOB: +64(21)635-694 OFFICE: +64(4)499-2267 Survey for nothing with http://survey.net.nz/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
