I also have an X20. I used to have this problem some time ago but I'm (fairly) sure it was sorted out at some point in the 2.4.x series of kernels. (I'm currently using 2.4.18). (eepro100 driver as a module). Do you have issues with the sound card when resuming as well? This was another problem that was solved by later 2.4 kernels. I use the laptop-net package, as I plug into a number of different networks. This package detects whether a there is a network cable attached and re-configures my settings appropriately. It is relatively simple to configure, very powerful and comes with a great manual. You may want to have a look at this package. I also use the dhclient dhcp client as I've found this to be much more reliable than pump. (Which seemed to die when there was no network connection present, and need manually re-starting when I did plug in the wire.) My whole network system is now fully automatic, with the correct network config, services, mail settings, printer settings, etc. on every network I plug into. The only problem I have, is that plugging a network lead in after first booting the laptop results in a "network card already configured" error message and the interface not being brought up. A quick "ifconfig eth0 up" and taking the lead out and plugging back in, sorts it until I reboot. I really can't recommend laptop-net enough if you need more than one network set-up. If this is not for you, running "ifconfig eth0 up" and "pump -i eth0" or may fix your problems on resume. Actually, it has just occurred to me that I usually un-plug from the network before suspending/hibernating. This is because I am usually on my way home from work or taking my laptop out and will be joining a different network at my new location. Maybe you should try this? All of this is from memory and I don't think I have changed anything else. I've tried to include all the details of my setup so that you can hopefully find this answer buried somewhere in this lot.
