Subject: toshiba 2595xDVD reference [parport] HP Printer and toshiba 2595xDVD Question: How do I eliminate "Can't locate module char-major-10-134" errors? Background: My Problem: I have a toshiba 2595xDVD laptop and a HP 712C printer. The printer doesn't print when I use debian's potato CD. My Discovery: Knoppix which is a linux variant that runs from CD is based on debian. It does print. The kernels differ by a bit: Knoppix is 2.4.19 and potato is 2.2.19-dep. My Plan: 1. make a minimal 2.4.19 kernel that supports X, extfs, VFat32 2. add in the lucent modem support 3. add in the printer 4. add in sound 5. Write up the results and post to my web site My status: Now I have a working kernel that supports X, extfs and Vfat32. I have noticed that during bootup I get these module not found messages. I don't know where they come from. I want to be rid of them before I continue. I have found the file /var/log/ksymoop/*.log where I see the modprobe command lines.
