FWIW on my IBM A21p Thinkpad I see the same problem as Tiago with any version of the kernel since 2.4.17 (latest I have tried is 2.4.20-pre8). I think it is maybe a card services bug (problems with any release from 3.1.33 to 3.2.1). Linux PCMCIA Card Services 3.2.1 kernel build: 2.4.19 unknown options: [pci] [cardbus] [apm] Intel ISA/PCI/CardBus PCIC probe: PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:02.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00:05.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 01:00.0 PCI: Found IRQ 10 for device 00:02.1 TI 1450 rev 03 PCI-to-CardBus at slot 00:02, mem 0x50000000 host opts [0]: [ring] [serial pci & irq] [pci irq 11] [lat 64/176] [bus 2/4] host opts [1]: [ring] [serial pci & irq] [pci irq 10] [lat 64/176] [bus 5/7] PCI irq 11 test failed ISA irqs (scanned) = none!<6> *NO* card interrupts, polling interval = 1000 ms cs: memory probe 0xa0000000-0xa0ffffff: clean. hermes.c: 5 Apr 2002 David Gibson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> orinoco.c 0.11b (David Gibson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and others) orinoco_cs.c 0.11b (David Gibson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and others) cs: IO port probe 0x0100-0x04ff: excluding 0x4d0-0x4d7 cs: IO port probe 0x04d8-0x04ff: clean. cs: IO port probe 0x0800-0x08ff: clean. cs: IO port probe 0x0a00-0x0aff: clean. cs: IO port probe 0x0c00-0x0cff: clean. orinoco_cs: RequestIRQ: Resource in use I don't have a 'yenta_socket' module, since I usually use the separate pcmcia-modules package that I compile with make-kpkg when I build my kernel. If I compile PCMCIA directly in the kernel I do see that module. Unfortunately I get no action when I insert a card. If I have a card inserted when I start pcmcia then it finds it, but it doesn't work (at least my WLAN card doesn't work, and that's kind of the most important card to me :-). For now I have stuck with 2.4.17, which (a) notices when I insert a card in the socket, and (b) manages to find usable IRQs for both the socket and the cards I insert into it. With my 2.4.17 kernel things are much happier: Linux PCMCIA Card Services 3.1.31 kernel build: 2.4.17 unknown options: [pci] [cardbus] [apm] Intel ISA/PCI/CardBus PCIC probe: PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:02.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00:05.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 01:00.0 PCI: Found IRQ 10 for device 00:02.1 TI 1450 rev 03 PCI-to-CardBus at slot 00:02, mem 0x50000000 host opts [0]: [ring] [serial pci & irq] [pci irq 11] [lat 64/176] [bus 2/4] host opts [1]: [ring] [serial pci & irq] [pci irq 10] [lat 64/176] [bus 5/7] ISA irqs (scanned) = 3,4,7 PCI status changes cs: memory probe 0xa0000000-0xa0ffffff: clean. hermes.c: 3 Oct 2001 David Gibson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> orinoco.c 0.08a (David Gibson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and others) orinoco_cs.c 0.08 (David Gibson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and others) cs: IO port probe 0x0100-0x04ff: excluding 0x4d0-0x4d7 cs: IO port probe 0x04d8-0x04ff: clean. cs: IO port probe 0x0800-0x08ff: clean. cs: IO port probe 0x0a00-0x0aff: clean. cs: IO port probe 0x0c00-0x0cff: clean. eth1: ready eth1: index 0x01: Vcc 3.3, irq 3, io 0x0100-0x013f This is using an older version of Card Services (3.1.31 vs 3.2.1) , and I _believe_ that this problem is what the finger can be pointed. I have had no luck at all with more recent builds, but I have not gone so far as to download the old 3.1.31 pcmcia source and use that with the newer 2.4.19 kernel - perhaps that should be what I do next. I sure would love to get this working - it really bugs me when an upgrade turns out to be a downgrade :-( Regards, Andrew. > Tiago (Baiano) wrote: > > Hello.. > > > > I have a SureCom 428x Cardbus and i really need to use it..can > > somebody help me with that?? > > > > I try to load the module 8139too and it seem to works just > > fine..but i can't bring up my interface, because it says that the resource > > is busy.... > > Then try to load rtl8139 and it says that the card has no irq.. > > > > and when i do lspci it says that the card has no IO either... > > > > Please help me on that...thanks.. > > > > Tiago (Baiano) > > UFSC Computação > > http://www.inf.ufsc.br/~tiagosp > > UIN: 104743537 > > > > > > > > -- > To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > with a subject of "unsubscribe".
