Toshiba Satellite 1805-S254

I've installed Debian in my Toshiba Laptop Satellite 1805-S254 and I'm having several video problems. One of them is that the X server doe'sn't start... i've read that the problem is that XFree86 4.1 doesn't support my Trident CyberBade video adapter, so I'm updating to XFree86 4.2... Other problem is that the console text goes out from my LCD screen, about 6 or 7 lines under, so I can't read the entire screen in most of the cases. I've read that editing the lilo.conf file and changing the line "vga=7" for "vga=378" solved the problem... but it doesn't. If anyone can help me with this....
