It's a taller drive. Still has the tiny-size IDE interface normal on laptop disks, but the taller bay will allow for either older drive bays (perhaps he intends to slide an already-debian drive into his new machine) or for larger capacities (you can only fit so many platters on a 9.5mm drive). Beware also that some manufacturers say 9mm and mean it; they can't take 9.5mm drives either, or they can with a -very- tight fit, and some danger of heating problems.
