It may be worth looking at one of the packages like whereami, divine, intuitively, etc. These packages attempt to figure out where your laptop is (with some configuration, of course), and set up your network accordingly. I personally use whereami. The woody/sid package is probably easier to configure than the one in potato, and I think that you should be able to use it without any problems on potato. steve> One thing I notice is that in /etc/pcmcia/network.opts everything steve> is still set up for the old static network configurations, so I steve> would like to know how I should rewrite or change that. Also, steve> /etc/pcmcia/network seems still to refer to pump. (I use a steve> Xircom pcmcia card for the ethernet connection.) After you install whereami, etc., you can make them run in /etc/pcmcia/network. (AFAIK, whereami adds a line automatically when it gets installed.) - -- Hubert Chan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> - http://www.geocities.com/hubertchan/ PGP/GnuPG key: 1024D/71FDA37F Fingerprint: 6CC5 822D 2E55 494C 81DD 6F2C 6518 54DF 71FD A37F Key available at wwwkeys.pgp.net.
