I think the trick in Toshibas is select support por CardBus cards in the BIOS, and use the yenta_socket driver. Mine (Satellite 2540CDS) is working like a charm with 2.4.17 and Woody: PCMCIA, sound, lucent winmodem... I don't know about IrDA yet (maybe this weekend) or USB.
