I've got a Dell Inspiron 8000 with unstable running on it. Is there a specific
question you have? I just went to Linux for laptops:

which provides several somewhat complete descriptions of what to do. Dell also
allows you to customize the hw a good deal, so what you install depends on
what options you went for.
