Fujitsu C-Series Lifebook as Debian laptop?

I have a friend that has two Fujitsu C-Series Lifebook
portables with 192Meg RAM. He would like to switch
to Debian Linux.

Has anyone had success with this model portable?

Should I wait until 2.4.x kernel is out with Debian to
switch him over?
