I use "rsync" for unidirectional sync, and
http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~bcpierce/unison/
for bidirectional sync, both over ssh. Of the latter, tehre
is an unstable Debian package, but the binary version for
linux provided by the unison-developers (for unison-2.6.11)
also works flawlessly on my potato.
