You have a lucent modem

For a serial connection that is a bit large.  A half meg for "all the bits
go data way"?  huge.

Also, the linux driver is a port of their 5.68 so I'd say the signs are not
too good for you.  Note, the "generic" driver Lucent has up on their pages
is much newer (tho they swear up and down, your actual modem manufacturer is
supposed to cough up the drivers for you. Ahem *cough* *coff* *elf*).  Of 
course what they have is all generic drivers for MSwin.

lspci will tell you what Linux learns when it asks the items on your PCI bus
what they call themselves.
