Hallo Liste, der Betreff dieser Mail ist ernst gemeint. Dieser Befehl expiry tut wenig und bei dem, was er tun soll, holt er sich eine blutige Nase.
Auch die Handbuchseite wirkt auf mich surreal. expiry wird von einem Nutzer aufgerufen und die Handbuchseite schreibt dem Befehl zu, er setze die "password policy" durch. Doch für dne Fall, dass das Passworf des Benutzers abgelaufen ist, kommt er gar nicht in eine Shell um expiry aufzurufen. Für den Fall, dass ein Passwort "über Nacht" abgelaufen ist und somit aktuell ungültig ist, "setzt" expiry die "Passwortrichtlinie" erst durch, wenn es aufgerufen wurde. Also der Nutzen eines Befehls, den ich mit einer Option --force aufrufen muss, damit er mich dazu bringt, etwas zu tun, möchte ich schon in Frage stellen. Daher bewerte ich die Arbeit der Handbuchseiten-Autoren als "surreal". Wer expiry etwas Gutes tun will, könnte es einmal systematisch testen und vielleicht einen Fehlerbericht schreiben.
