Thanks, Jens! I am somewhat confused to which list this topic belongs. In the meantime, I could get one step further. With the following append line (with linebreaks to increase readability) append debian-installer/locale=de_DE \ console-setup/variant=Germany \ console-setup/layout=Germany \ console-setup/detect=Nein \ [ ... rest deleted since it has no relevance ... ] I managed to omit the "The origin of the keyboard:" question. But the "Detect keyboard layout?" question is still asked. Changing the detect line to console-setup/detect=no don't help, either. AFAICS, the documentation (appendix B of etch install guide) is either outdated or simple wrong. The documented method simply has no effect :-( BTW: The documentation says the format of the preseed file is <owner> <question name> <question type> <value> How can I find out from the question (e.g. "Detect keyboard layout?") which <owner>, <question name> and <question type> belong to the question and which <value>s are available for it? Is it possible to find this out from withhin the install environment without booting? BTW1: I noticed that neither hostname(1) nor dnsdomainname(1) are available in the install environment. This is too bad, since they would be a great help to preseed mirror/proxy settings or which packages to install. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
